Press release:: (Cincinnati, Ohio) Trinidad Mac_Auliffe , will exhibit work at designsmithgallery . The exhibit, entitled “Evolution of an Artist: Photography of Trinidad Mac_Auliffe“, opens Final Friday, 26 January 2007, and continues through 24 March 2007. designsmithgallery is located at 1342 Main Street, in Cincinnati. Gallery hours are most Friday and Saturday afternoons, noon to 6 PM, or by appointment. An opening reception will be held on Final Friday, 26 January 2007, from 7 PM to 10 PM. A second reception will take place on Final Friday, 23 February 2007, from 7 to 10 PM. Call 513.421.1397 designsmithgallery for more information. designsmithgallery is pleased to present the work of Trinidad Mac_Auliffe for the first time since her very successful showing “What Remains” in 2004 as a part of the “Bare Witness” exhibit. A native of Chile, Trinidad is best known locally for her provocative series, “The Theatre of the Body”. Her work has been shown locally at the Carnegie Visual + Performing Center and the Art Academy of Cincinnati Nationally and abroad, this award-winning photographer‘s showings include exhibitions at The Center for Fine Art Photography, MOCA Building, Fort Collins, Co. , the Wilmer Jennings Gallery, New York City and several in her native Santiago, Chile. Trinidad’s work has also been featured in several juried exhibitions including ones at the Lacda, Los Angeles, and Media Bridges, Cincinnati. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s Design, Art, Architecture and Planning College MFA program. In “Evolution of an Artist” a unique opportunity exists for the viewer to follow, compare and assess the work of this emerging artist. From early student work to the critically acclaimed “Theatre of the Body Series” to her most recent “Delivery Series”, Trinidad’s inimitable talent is front and center. Combining art and artifice; her skill as both a theatrical makeup artist and digital photographer, Mac_Auliffe creates a visual record of her personal reality that resonates within the broader collective reality of her viewers. designsmithgallery focuses on vintage modern furnishings from the Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, and 1960’s/1970’s movements. An ever-changing selection of furniture, ceramics, glass, metalware, and floorcoverings, etc. is represented. Pieces are selected by the gallery owner, David G. Smith, on the basis of timeless modern aesthetics, function, and appeal. While an emphasis is placed on fine condition items by the many of the 20th century’s finest architects, designers, makers, and manufacturers, an element of fun and whimsy is never overlooked.
